In a group home for people with developmental disabilities, Neurosonic is used to improve the residents' everyday life

The Isonniitykatu group home is located in Helsinki and it started operating in September 2013. The group home is home to 22 people with intellectual disabilities who need a lot of support and help in four different homes.

Due to the residents' support needs, their day activities are organized in the group home's experience rooms. The daily activities are based on a multisensory operating model, and we use Neurosonic's Professional chair as one of the tools in our operations. The chair is used e.g. in body awareness and relaxation groups.

The positive effects of the treatments can be seen in the residents' everyday life, e.g. the spasticity is alleviated and the resident is more relaxed during treatment situations at the end of the day. Residents who have had hypersensitivity to touch have learned to tolerate touch better with Neurosonic treatments. Neurosonic treatments have also had a positive effect on the residents' metabolism. For example, a person who has a tendency to "pee" often urinates during or immediately after treatment. The treatments also have positive effects on the functioning of the stomach. In addition, we have noticed that the residents relax in the chair both mentally and physically. After the treatments, residents can feel calmness and peace.

We are very satisfied with the Neurosonic chair. From the employee's point of view, the chair is easy and safe to use. The design and adjustments of the chair enable use by people who may have very difficult wrong positions. After a year of experience, we can warmly recommend the Neurosonic chair to everyone, including developmental disability care units!
